Chin Augmentation Miami | Chin Implant
What is Chin Augmentation?
Basically a Chin Augmentation is a procedure that improves the underlying structure of the face by introducing a chin implant. In the end, the patient obtains a better facial balance. A well-defined jawline is something that has long been a desirable trait in both men and women. The anchor of any profile is the chin. Many people associate a somewhat larger, stronger chin with attractiveness and professional success. With over 20,000 procedures performed in 2011, chin augmentation is now the fastest growing plastic surgery procedure among all major demographics.
Who Should Consider Chin Augmentation?
Chin Augmentation may not be right for everyone. The ideal patient for this procedure is an individual that is in good general health, a non-smoker and a patient that is not satisfied with the appearance of his or her chin, jawline or profile.
What to Expect?
Prior to surgery, Dr. Marshall will evaluate your particular case in our offices in Miami and will likely have you:
- Adjust or add medication
- Stop smoking
- Avoid taking aspirin
On the day of your chin augmentation, your procedure will involve the following steps:
- Anesthesia. Dr. Marshall will recommend whether you should undergo intravenous sedation or general anesthesia
- Incision. Through a small incision inside the mouth or underneath the chin, Dr. Marshall will insert the implant into a pocket in front of the jawbone. The incision is made either along the lower lip inside the mouth or just below the chin area. Inserting a chin implant can take between 30 minutes to one hour.
- Recovery. Immediately after the procedure, your chin, jaw and neck will be tender and swollen for about one week after your chin augmentation. Your stitches will be removed in about one week.
When Can You Return to Work?
